Sliding Latch of Door (Solid Edge ST9 Tutorial)
In this Solid Edge ST9 Tutorial we will describe how to build the model of a ‘Sliding Latch of Door’. It is a part modelling and assembly modelling tutorial. This assembly consist three part files that are positioned according to design intent by using Assembly Constraints and give you an idea of Sliding Latch mechanism.
It will cover the following topics.

• Use some sketch constraints as Connect, Parallel, Concentric, Collinear, Perpendicular, Symmetric, Horizontal/Vertical, Equal etc. that are applied on during sketch creation to prepare the fully defined sketches.

• Use assembly commands such as Flash Fit, Axial Align mate, Mate/Planar Align command etc.
• How to insert component into the assembly using drag and drop from parts library by using ‘Insert Component’ command.
• How to mate the parts by using ‘Flash Fit’ command in the assembly.
• How to set the mate offset value between the two component in the Mate/Planar Align command.
• How to rotate and moving part by using ‘Drag Component’ command.
• How to check the minimum distance between two components by using ‘Measuring Minimum Distance’ command.
• How to automatically adopt the measure the distance value in ‘Planar Align’ command by applying between faces on the two components, to change the setting in the ‘Planar Align’ command (Planar Align - Options) and select the ‘Use distance between faces as default offset’ option.
• How to detect the collision between two components, to change the setting in the ‘Drag Component’ command (Analysis Options) and select the ‘Stop movement when collision occurs’ option.
